Purpose: If you don’t have the EdenFantasys Theme Customization Module available in your modules list, you can install it. This tutorial explains how to install the module files on your host. If you have an EdenFantasys-hosted store, you should already have this module.

1. Download the Theme Customization here in a zip file.

2. Log in to your host’s control panel and navigate to your file manager.

3. Upload the Theme Customization zip file into your store’s root folder.

4. You’ll be installing a new “themes” folder with this upgrade which will take the place of your current “themes” folder. If you’ve made any changes to your “themes” folder (/themes/) that you’d like to save, make a backup of the “themes” folder. Otherwise, just delete it.

5. Extract the zip file. Two folders will come out of it: “efThemeMod” and “themes.”

6. The (new) “themes” folder just stays in your store’s root folder, so just leave it in place. The “efThemeMod” folder needs to go into the “modules” folder. Select the “efThemeMod” folder and move it into the “modules” folder.

7. Check your store’s homepage and Back Office to make sure the installation was successful. Your store homepage should show up normally, and in the Back Office >> Modules tab, you should see a module named “EdenFantasys Theme Customization.”

8. Click the “Install” button next to the module to install it. Then click >> Configure to access the module and customize your theme. Here’s a tutorial for using the module. Have fun!

Purpose: The New Products Block is great for showing off the new additions to your store’s inventory. This tutorial explains how to enable, disable, and customize the New Products Block.

First, log in to your store’s Back Office / store admin, then click on the Modules tab. Scroll down to where you see the New Products Block module.

Enable/Disable

By default, this module is enabled. You’ll see the newest products in your inventory displayed. But if you haven’t added anything for a while, the block will empty out, and that can make your store look stale. Sometimes it’s better to hide the New Products Block so your store homepage looks well kept all the time.

To disable the module, click on the green checkmark.

The green checkmark will change to a red X, signifying that the module is disabled. To enable the module again, just click the red X.

Customize

Click on >> Configure.

In the module, enter the number of new products you want to display on the homepage. The default is four, and the default width of the store is about four products, so multiples of four will look best (4, 8, 12, 16, etc.). Click Save to save your changes, then check your store’s homepage to verify the update.

Purpose: The EdenFantasys Theme Customization module allows you to customize the appearance of your EPS theme. This tutorial explains how to use all of the features of the module. To access the module, go to Modules tab >> EdenFantasys Theme Customization >> Configure. Note: If you don’t see the module in your store, you can install it by following the instructions here.

The module is designed to allow you to change your theme’s settings and see a basic preview of the change before applying it to your store. Settings are changed in the left column and previewed in the right column. Usage instructions are below, and a detailed list of each theme element follows.

Click on the thumbnail below to see a screenshot of the module. In the screenshot, the different elements have been adjusted and you can see the previews of most elements in the right column:

Using the Module

Many elements have a drop-down menu for selecting a new setting. Some elements have color selection tools that look like this:

To use the tool, click on the square to bring up color selector. Then you can click and drag the small circle across the color palette to choose your color. You have the options of using the slider, hex color box, and the red/green/blue/hue/saturation/brightness boxes, too. The image below shows one hand clicking on the small circle, and the other adjusting the slider.

Applying or Previewing Your Settings

At the bottom of the module is a checkbox labeled Apply customization and two buttons: Save settings and Reset all settings.

To preview your settings:

Uncheck the Apply customization checkbox, and click the Save settings button. On the next screen, click the Preview changes button. This opens a new tab/window and allows you to preview the homepage of your store with the new settings. To adjust or apply your settings, select Return to wizard on the tab/window with the module.

To save your settings:

Check the Apply customization checkbox, and click the Save settings button. Your settings have been applied to your store’s theme.

To reset your settings:

Click the Reset all settings button. Be careful! Once you click the button, you can’t revert to your previous settings.

Theme Element Details

Basic Design

Background Image: Upload an image from your computer by clicking the Upload button and then clicking Open to select an image. Checking the box next to Use Image makes the image appear. Unchecking it does not delete the image, but the image will not display in the background. (Note: background image will bring up a thumbnail above the Upload button but will not show in the right column preview.)

Image Specifications: The three drop-down menus below the Upload button affect the orientation and repetition of the background image if one is being used. By default (i.e. when left blank) these settings tile the background image, with the image anchored/fixed at the top left corner of the page.

Image Repeat (Left drop-down): No-repeat (image will not tile); x-repeat (image repeats only horizontally, along the x-axis); y-repeat (image repeats only vertically, along the y-axis).

Vertical Anchor (Center drop-down): Top (image is anchored at the top of the page); Bottom (image anchored at the bottom of the page); Center (image anchored at the center, vertically).

Horizontal Anchor (Right drop-down): Left (image is anchored against the left side of the page); Right (image is anchored against the right side of the page); Center (image is anchored at the center, horizontally).

(If you want to provide your own hosting for your store, go here.)

In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of setting up your Eden Personal Store (EPS). First you will set up either a domain or subdomain for your store, then you will send us your information and we’ll set up a store for you on our servers. After that, you can customize your store and start promoting it!

If you have not already done so, please complete a W9 form (only for affiliates in the USA) and read, print, and sign the EPS Partnership Agreement (all affiliates). You can return the forms in one of three ways: Scan and email the forms to partners@edenfantasys.com, fax them to (609) 920-0332, or mail them to: EdenFantasys / Web Merchants, Inc., ATTN: Rufina Bulatova, 2745 Bankers Industrial Drive, Atlanta, GA 30360. We need to have Partnership Agreement on file for all affiliates with EPS. We only need the last page (with your signature) on file.

If you have any questions about the setup instructions, please email partners@edenfantasys.com .

I. Obtain a domain name.

An Eden Personal Store (EPS) can be a great addition to your blog or be a stand-alone shopping website. Depending on your choice, you will need either a domain or subdomain to host the store. For an EPS with a bigger catalog of over 500 products, we recommend putting your EPS on its own domain. Smaller catalogs (under 500 products) or stores that are tied in with your blog can be hosted on a subdomain.

Domain setup

If you decide to go with a stand-alone solution and dedicate a whole website domain to your store, please purchase and register a domain from any registrar, such as GoDaddy.com, Netfirms.com, or NetworkSolutions.com. Domain registration usually costs around $10 per year.

You will need to create two records in your DNS settings. Set your DNS information as follows:

[YouStoreName].com IN A 71.4.221.160

www.[YourStoreName].com IN CNAME [YourStoreName].com

The first record is an A record, which points your domain name to our host’s IP address (71.4.221.160). If your site already has an A record that points to another IP, delete that record so you only have one A record. The second record is a CNAME record which ensures that your site shows up properly if you type “www” at the beginning.

Subdomain
If you have a website located at http://mywebsite.com and you want to add an EPS to it, you would need to create a subdomain to host a store on it. Let’s say the subdomain name for the store is MyEdenStore, so the store address will be: http://MyEdenStore.mywebsite.com. In this URL configuration, “MyEdenStore” is called the subdomain, assuming MyWebsite.com is the domain. You still need to own a domain in order to have your store on a subdomain.

Here is the detailed instruction on how to set up a subdomain.
http://content.websitegear.com/article/subdomain_setup.htm

You will need to create an A record in your DNS settings. Set your DNS information as follows:

shop.site.com IN A 71.4.221.160

The A record, which points your domain name to our host’s IP address (71.4.221.160). If your site already has an A record that points to another IP, delete that record so you only have one A record.

II. Hosting.

EdenFantasys provides up to 2GB of hosting space for each Eden Personal Store. If your Eden Personal Store plans require more than 2GB of space, you are free to host the store on your own server.

Once your domain is set up, email partners@edenfantasys.com with your setup information. Please include:

Store URL

Store name (can be changed later)

Your name/nickname, for the store admin account

Your email, for the store admin account

Your affiliate code (example: CPG)

We will use this information to create a your store, then we will send you the login information so you can access the store admin.

III. Store Configuration

1a. Do not update the PrestaShop software! Updating will reset the custom EdenFantasys modules. You may see a prompt in the Back Office (store admin) like the one shown below. Do not download the update. EdenFantasys provides our own updates and patches for Eden Personal Stores software.

1b. Do not add additional/custom modules to your store. We set up the store with the modules that it needs to function, and have included the ability to customize your store’s theme. Third party modules can cause errors with the store’s function and have not been tested for compatibility with our software script customizations.

2. Google Analytics

We recommend using Google Analytics to track your EPS stats (this is optional, but can be very useful for affiliates). Here is how to set up Google Analytics:

a. Create a Google Analytics account here.

b. Enable the Google Analytics module by going to Back Office >> Modules, and clicking on the Install button next to Google Analytics.

c. Configure this module by clicking on Configure (next to Google Analytics), and entering in your username for Google Analytics. Click Save to save your changes. Google Analytics can take a few days to start providing data, so please do not expect instant statistics.

You’re done with configuration!

Now it’s time to add some products to your store.

You can also visit the Tutorials page for more information and help with EPS customizations.

Purpose: When you add products to your store, the products come with multiple images, and you may wish to add additional images and/or delete images. Affiliates should not misrepresent products, but are free to add custom images or delete images that they do not wish to have in their store.

Note: You can add images to a product page in a few ways. One way is to add the image so it appears with the rest of the product images, and can show up as the default image for the products. This tutorial shows you how to add images this way. Another way is to add images to the product description, or in the “More Info” section at the bottom of the product page. The tutorial for this way is coming soon!

For adding or deleting images, log into the Back Office and click on the Catalog tab. Then navigate to the product’s page, and click on the Images tab, as shown below.

Jump to Deleting Images

Adding Images to a Product Page

1. On the Images tab, click the Browse button.

2. Use the explorer window to navigate to your image and select it. Click Open to select your image.

3. If you want to use the image as the product cover, check the box next to “Use as product cover?” The product cover image is the image that appears as the default image for the product page, homepage, and category pages. You can also choose the product cover through the image list. Click on the red circle under “Cover” in the row of product to make it the cover image. The image should then have a green checkmark in its row.

4. Click Save image to save your changes. The image you uploaded should be added to the bottom of the image list on the pages.

5. Scroll down to the list of images and use the arrows next to the images to adjust the relative position of the image. For the best user experience, we recommend moving the image you want to use as the default picture into Position 1.

After completing these steps, the image will now appear with the rest of the product images. If you’ve set it as the product cover, it will appear as the default image. You still need to add it to at least one combination of product images, or the image won’t appear correctly on the product page.

6. Click on the Combinations tab.

7. Scroll down to the Attributes table near the bottom of the page. Click the Edit icon next to a combination for the product. Note: Some products only have one combination.

8. Check the box next to the image you wish to add to the combination, and then click Modify this attribute combination.

Deleting Images from a Product Page

1. On the Images tab, scroll down to the image list near the bottom of the page.

2. For any image you wish to delete, click the red X to the right of the image.

3. A dialog box will appear, asking you to confirm the deletion. Click OK to delete the image or Cancel to cancel the action.

Purpose: Product accessories can add to your product page’s impression on a customer. You might want to include items that would be used at the same time, or in sequence. This tutorial explains how to add accessory products so they show up on a product’s page.

Here is a thumbnail preview of product page with accessories:

Click for full-sized version.

1. Log into your Back Office / store admin and navigate to a product’s page. (Catalog tab >> Category name >> Subcategory (if applicable) >> Product name)

2. Scroll down to the bottom of the product’s page and find the section named “Accessories.”

3. As noted in that section, type the name of a product into the text field, and then select the product from the drop-down list to add it as an accessory. You can add up to four accessories per product page.

In this tutorial, I will add two lubes to a product page.

First, I’m adding Pink lube:

Now, I’ll add Sliquid Silver lube. You can see that Pink lube is already listed. If you want to delete an accessory, just click the red X next to its listing. You can always add it again later.

4. When you’re done, click the Save button at the bottom of the page, and check out your new product page on your storefront.

Purpose: The Quick Search Block is the search bar located (by default) at the top of your EPS storefront. Your customers can type in a product name and quickly search for the product. In order for the search box to work, you need to update your search index so that your new products will show up when customers search for them. This tutorial explains how to update your search index.

When should you update your search index? You should update it if you’ve added products to your store, and/or if you have searched for products in the Quick Search Block and have noticed that your search results are incorrect.

1. Log into your Back Office / store admin and click on the Preferences tab.

2. Below the tab bar, click on Search.

3. At the top of the page in the Indexation section, you have a couple options. One is “Add missing products to index” which will add any new products to your search index. The other is “Re-build entire index” which will rebuild your index from scratch. Click on the option you wish to use (when in doubt, just rebuild the index).

After you’ve rebuilt your index (it should take just a second), you should see a notification that reads “Update successful” like the one shown below:

If you rebuilt your index because you were experiencing search issues, check your storefront and see if the rebuild fixed the issue.
